Biography

Thanks for visiting my site! My name is Rebecca and I'm a graphic designer and photography restoration and retouching specialist.

To tell you a little about myself, I am 31, live in Washington, IL, like long walk on the beach, romantic candlelit dinners...Ooops! Sorry thought I was writing a personals ad there for a sec (teehee).

In all seriousness I am a self-taught artist with an extreme passion for photographs of every style and form. Having my first child at 16 in my junior year of high school, college unfortunately took a backseat to diaper changing, 3 am feedings and trying not to lactate during gym class! (lol). Not that I regret it for a second though. My daughter is amazing and is starting her sophmore year of highschool. Lucky for her my ubergeek tendencies skipped a generation! In addition to my daughter, I also have a beautiful 15 year old stepdaughter, a 9 year old son, and a fantastic 14 year old stepson. And of course the world's most patient man who has for 5 years put up with all my sudden creative inspirations that keep me up till 4 am!

As to how I got started, it is quite simple really. About 4 years ago I finally had to make the decision of what I wanted to be when I "grew up". After getting fired from jobs over the years for spending more time reworking their "marketing fliers" than filing and answering phones, the answer seemed obvious. When my son's asthma got to the point that we realized it would be better for me to stay home, the proverbial heavens parted, the light shone, the wheels turned etc...etc...(insert cliche for bright idea here) and it became apparent that it was the perfect chance to really learn what I was so obviously obsessed about and see if I could do something with it. I purchased books, read articles, found website resources and eventually learned the programs till I was confident enough to try to sell my services.

About 4 years ago I printed some business cards off of my inkjet printer (ahhh those sad little things) and convinced the president of a local networking chapter that if he would just give me 3 months to attend the group I would be able to get enough business to pay for my yearly membership and the rest as they say is history! In total I've worked with a little over 400 companies and individuals on everything from a new logo to a presidential campaign in 2004.

While my work over the years has been gratifying and a true blessing, almost every bit of it has been in the graphic design arena. It is why I decided this summer to take a break from the design side and to pursue my love of retouching with the same commitment that I did so long ago.

Over 90% of the work you see on this site is simply a product of my imagination. Photos I've collected over the years who seemed to be waiting for their voices to be heard.

If you have read this far then a very big Thanks! It's a long story but hopefully not too boring in the telling. I hope you enjoy the works featured here and that you will free to comment, critique or provide feedback on anything you see.
